AnyDesk lets you send messages to another user during a connection request and an active session.

Sending messages

When a user receives a connection request, an Accept Window appears, including a chat box. Regardless of whether the session has been accepted, both users can exchange messages.

During an active session, the initiating user can open the chat window by clicking chat from the toolbar.

Session chat history

AnyDesk stores chat history locally for both standard and custom clients.

By default, the chat logs can be found in the following locations:

  • Windows: %appdata%\AnyDesk\chat

  • macOS/Linux: ~/.AnyDesk/chat

  • Windows: %appdata%\AnyDesk\ad_<prefix>\chat

  • macOS/Linux: ~/.AnyDesk-ad_<prefix>/chat

Chat logs are organized by the AnyDesk ID of the remote device. All messages exchanged between the same IDs, even across multiple sessions, are merged into a single log file.
